About The Fone Zone
The Fone Zone is an independent UK comparison site for mobile phones, pay-monthly contracts, SIM-only plans and travel eSIMs. Every day we pull the current offers from the retailers and networks we work with, match them to the handset they are for, and show them side by side so you can see what a phone really costs from everyone who sells it — instead of opening fifteen tabs.
What makes us different: the whole bill
Phone deals are sold on the monthly price. It is the biggest number in every advert, and it is frequently the least useful one: the lowest monthly prices usually come with the largest upfront fees. So we show every deal as a receipt — upfront, each monthly payment, and the true total — and rank by the real monthly cost. Three things follow from that, and you will not find all of them elsewhere:
- The headline trap. On every phone we show the cheapest-looking deal next to the genuinely cheapest one, and how much the difference would cost you.
- Contract or buy outright? We price the same handset bought outright plus the cheapest SIM plan with matching data, over the same term, and tell you which works out cheaper. The answer changes from phone to phone and week to week.
- The true cost calculator, for any two deals you are weighing up, including annual price rises and cashback.
Who we are
The site is operated by The Fone Zone. We are not owned by, or affiliated with, any network or retailer.
How we rank deals
Headline monthly prices are misleading. A contract advertised at £15 a month with £299 to pay today is more expensive over two years than one at £27 a month with nothing upfront. So our default sort is effective monthly cost: we take the upfront fee, spread it over the length of the contract, and add it to the monthly bill. Where a retailer splits a device plan from airtime with different lengths, we add the two up separately. You can always switch the sort to headline monthly price, upfront cost, total cost or data allowance, and nothing we are paid affects the order.
How we make money
Most "See deal" links on this site are affiliate links, which means we may be paid a commission by the retailer if you go on to buy. We may also show advertising. Neither changes what you pay, and neither changes our ranking, which is calculated from the price data alone. We do not accept payment for placement, and a retailer cannot buy its way to the top of a list.
Where the data comes from
Prices, allowances and stock come directly from each retailer's own product feed and are refreshed every night; the date of the last refresh is shown on every deals page. We do not scrape retailers' websites. Mobile pricing changes constantly, so a price can move between our last check and your visit — always confirm the details on the retailer's checkout before you commit.
Editorial standards
Our guides are written by us, not generated from the deal data, and we try to keep them honest: where we do not know something, we say so, and where advice depends on your circumstances we explain how. If you spot an error, tell us and we will fix it and note the correction on the article.
Contact
Use the contact form for corrections, questions about a deal, or to suggest a retailer we should add. We usually reply within two working days.
