What we collect and why

  • Contact form. If you write to us we keep your name, email address and message so that we can reply, for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in responding to you.
  • Server logs. Our web server records the IP address, page requested, time and browser type of each visit. Logs are used for security and troubleshooting and are deleted routinely. Legal basis: legitimate interest in running a secure service.
  • Cookie preferences. Your choice on the cookie banner is stored in your browser so we do not ask again.

We do not ask for, and you should not send us, payment details or other sensitive information. We do not sell personal data.

Cookies and similar technologies

We set one essential cookie that makes forms work and protects against cross-site request forgery. It holds no personal information and expires when you close your browser. Essential cookies do not require consent.

Affiliate links

When you click through to a retailer, the link may pass through an affiliate network (for example Awin) which sets its own cookie to attribute any purchase to us. The retailer and the affiliate network are separate controllers of the data they collect; their privacy policies apply from the moment you leave this site. We do not receive your personal details from them, only aggregate reporting.

Who we share data with

Our hosting provider processes data on our behalf under contract. Analytics and advertising data is shared with Google only if you have consented, as described above. We disclose personal data to authorities only where the law requires it.

International transfers

Google may process data outside the UK. Where it does, transfers are covered by the UK's adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict our processing, and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, use the contact form. We will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
